Yes. Scanto is completely free, with no watermark and no daily limit on the number of pages you can scan.
Do I need to create an account or install an app?
No. Scanto works directly in your browser — no sign-up and no installation required. You can optionally add it to your home screen for an app-like experience.
Are my scanned documents uploaded to your servers?
No. All image processing — perspective correction, filters, and PDF creation — happens entirely on your device. Your files are never sent to any server.
What image formats can I convert to PDF?
Scanto supports JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, GIF, and HEIC/HEIF (the format used by iPhone photos).
Can I scan multiple pages into a single PDF?
Yes. Add as many photos as you need, reorder them by dragging, and export them all as one multi-page PDF.
How do I scan a document using my phone's camera?
Tap 'Add page,' allow camera access, and photograph the document. Drag the four corner handles onto the page's edges, and Scanto will straighten and enhance it for you.
Does Scanto automatically crop and straighten my document?
Scanto currently uses a fast manual corner-adjustment step — you drag four handles onto the page's edges — and then corrects the perspective so the page looks flat. Fully automatic edge detection is planned for a future update.
Can I reorder or delete pages before exporting?
Yes. You can drag pages to reorder them, rotate individual pages, or remove any page before generating the final PDF.
Will there be a watermark on my PDF?
No. Scanto never adds a watermark to your exported files.
Does Scanto work on iPhone (Safari)?
Yes. Scanto works in modern mobile browsers, including Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android.
Can I convert HEIC photos from my iPhone directly to PDF?
Yes. Scanto automatically detects and converts HEIC/HEIF photos before processing, so you don't need to convert them manually first.
Is there a limit on file size or number of pages?
Scanto doesn't impose an artificial limit, though very large scans depend on your device's available memory.
Can I use Scanto offline?
Yes, after your first visit. Scanto can be installed as a Progressive Web App and continues to work without an internet connection.
How is Scanto different from CamScanner or Adobe Scan?
Scanto runs entirely in your browser with no install and no account, and never uploads your images to a server — while CamScanner and Adobe Scan are native apps that process or store scans through their cloud services.
Does Scanto support OCR (searchable text)?
Not yet in the current version — it's planned for a future update. Today, Scanto focuses on fast, private, high-quality image-to-PDF scanning.
